Building a Cloud solution for one of SA's largest shoe retailers
With the need for businesses to provide solutions accessible from anywhere and anytime, the rise of cloud-based solutions is becoming more evident, as was the case with one of SA's number one shoe retailers, with the broadest physical store footprint of its kind in Southern Africa.
Bespoke yet customizable and modular, a cloud-based solution was built that enabled them to get the solution in each of its over 400 stores instantaneously.
By building on Microsoft Azure and the .Net Framework, First Digital designed, developed, and deployed their One App Solution, with sub solutions in 4 months.
The biggest technical challenge for the solution was in the design thereof. The solution was to be built from the ground up. Still, it was required to be configurable to a certain extent to enable our customer to incorporate more and more business solutions and activities. The solution was required to be easily accessible from any device and to any number of users.
First Digital designed and developed the initial One App solution as a shell that would serve as the overall administrative center and container for other solutions. The development was then expanded to include a ticketing system, sales tracking and stock take solutions. All these solutions are accessible through the One App. The One App was designed to be further customizable to add users, links, ticket types, banners, images, and notifications.
By targeting Microsoft Azure’s serverless resources, the environments required for development and production were provisioned quickly, securely and can be scaled near real-time. The solution was designed as a stand-alone system with minimal dependencies on other systems.
